Help the refugees

Germany is taking in over 800,000 refugees this year, a figure that could rise to 1 million. We all read about it in newspapers and see it on television, and a lot of peoplewant to help - but don’t know how.

Here’s some ways:

  • If you have an old laptop you're no longer using, you can drop it off at Französische Straße 33a-c, Saturday September 5th between 17:00 and 00:00. It'll be used at the Refugee Code School. No need to charge or wipe it clean, the experts there will do it for you.
  • If you're in our (Kreuzberg) area and you have some spare shampoo, toothpaste, clothes, raincoats, blankets, granola bars, simcards etc.: Kreuzberg-Hilft, at Dieffenbachstrasse 15 in Kreuzberg Graefekiez is very happy to take them (as long as they have enough space). You can drop off things Tuesdays to Fridays from 12:00 to 17:00. You can find their latest list of items needed here. (and here's them Google maps).
  • Only the items listed can be donated, however, cash donations are accepted at the storeroom or can be deposited to: Berlin Midwives Association, DE08 1009 0000 2002 2830 10.

If you want to do more, or find organisations closer to you, this checklist by Finding Berlin is very helpful.
