Event Description

A computer is a wonderful thing, it structures your email and shows you video, but can you make things with it too? Things that you can touch even when the battery is empty? Things that are useful? Yes you can, with help of a 3D printer. This production equipment of the future builds up any object layer by layer.
This workshop will give you glimpse in the distant future showing the vast possibilities at hand in the year 2012. You will also see a 3D printer in reality: printing something! But the biggest fun starts in the hands on session: remixing 3D models on your laptop. We will do this with Blender*. You don’t need to know anything about 3D design, but if you do, you can make cooler things off course. After the workshop you can improve your skills until you’re satisfied. Then you can print it at the FabCafe with the €35,- of printing goodies you get for attending the workshop. Good deal right!?
Please, bring your laptop, a 3 button mouse and earbuds/ headphones.
Since this is a very compact session, it would be helpful if you do some reading and web browsing before coming, www.thingiverse.com and its blog are great resources. We are very excited about making this happen, and looking forward to meet you all in the amazing ODC space in betahaus.

* Please install Blender on beforehand. It’s downloadable for free from blender.org If you already have experience in another 3D program, you can stick to that.

This workshop is a part of the Build or Buy project by betahaus | Berlin.
