Screen printing is a great technique which can be used to apply designs to lots of different things, in the case of this workshop a bag! The workshop, inspired by ‘Snug Interiors’ Have a Nice Day Bag will teach you the basics of screenprinting as well as how to use words and type in your designs.
Words are amazing things, they can make you laugh, smile, get angry. They are made of letters which are art in itself, especially in different fonts, they can be all shapes and sizes, thin, fat, decorative, handwritten, curly, funny looking and sometimes down right silly! Designing bags with messages is a special way of communicating with the world when you are walking round the city. If you are not the wordy type we can also design and print lovely pictures.
The workshop is for absolute beginners and is a hands on experience for anyone who would like to learn how to design prints and screen print them. The workshop will include everything from preparing your artwork, making your own fantastic paper stencils, cutting them out, printing (multiple colours if you are feeling brave!) making finishing touches and having lots of fun!
All materials will be provided, just bring your ideas (and maybe a pencil or 2), wear some old clothes and get ready to be creative and leave us with a smile and an awesome bag.
The workshop is held by Sarah Kennedy, a designer from England, who is working on various screen printing designs under the name ´Snug Interiors´.
