Backstrap weaving is a simple and satisfying skill of fabric creation which could be applied to nearly anything from creating your own fabric to knitting a winter scarf. Within a 3 hour session with a help of instructor you will measure yarn, string the loom and weave cloth. Workshop participants can decide to weave the awesomest blanket ever together or work on personal smaller project to take home.
A tool used for fabric creation is called ´loom´. An optimal pocket version of it was created by the holder of this workshop to be laser cut. This is one of the brightest examples of collaboration between ancient craft and contemporary technology. Each of the participants gets a loom to take home and experiment further on! Just the loom itself costs at least 30 euro in stores (if you manage to find one).
This workshop will be held by Travis Joseph, a berlin-based San Francisco fabric artist, known for his project ´Action Weaver´. He´s trained in Industrial Design and has a Master Degree in Textiles.
