The Rails Girls inspired us! The ability to write code is a much needed skill these days, and we wanna learn it too. So we are thinking about organizing a 2-day event, in which everyone gets an introduction to Ruby on Rails and web development. In teams we will work on developing simple, easy to realize ideas for applications, which we will afterwards actually program. You will learn how to estimate how costly and extensive a web application will be, how to talk to programmers and understand their jargon and how to code simple apps yourself. On top that their will breakfasts and parties together.

Before we put all that together we just wanna know – Are you interested? Would you come to such an coding weekend? If you think you would join, please like this post, so we can get an estimate your the interest in this

Thanks a lot for your input!

  1. I would love to learn by working on a small(?) project in a team.

Since Railgirls inspired you: are there (gender) diversity clashes? If yes, I recommend taking inspiration – for marketing the event perhaps – from the Boston Python Workshop. (See their Diversity in Practice video).

  3. Hey, ist der Aktionswunsch hier noch aktuell??
Ich wäre sofort bei einem RailsForAll-Abend dabei. Will mich schon lange mit RoR beschäftigen. Die Idee von qubodup finde ich super, vielleicht zwei Leute an einem Rechner, so kann man sich gegenseitig weiterbringen. Ich würde Antipasti für den Anfang und Schokolade für später mitbringen.

  4. Ich bin auch interessiert :)
